Confederation Bridge Canada

Posted By on November 16, 2008

The Confederation Bridge (French: Pont de la Confédération) is a bridge spanning the Abegweit Passage of Northumberland Strait, linking Prince Edward Island with mainland New Brunswick, Canada. It was commonly referred to as the “Fixed Link” (cf. fixed link) by residents of Prince Edward Island prior to its official naming. Construction took place from the fall of 1993 to the spring of 1997, costing $1.3 billion. The 12.9-kilometre (8 mi) long bridge opened on 31 May 1997[2].

Hubby and I visited Prince Edward Island in 1999. We were still dating at that time. Anyway we crossed that confederation bridge by car and we stayed for a week in PEI. I believe it’s the longest bridge in Canada. By the way the place was amazing and you can find a real beach in that place. You know a blue ocean unlike in Ontario they are all lakes. Hoping to go back there someday.
